Samples of my work

Shown below are examples of some of my handyman work. Some are extensive and many are a quick fix, so peruse and enjoy viewing them. Let's talk about your projects...big or small, and let's get it off your need to-do or wish list.

Bathroom Renovation

Half Bath renovation 4' x 8'

Totally updated bathroom that had old and inefficient fixtures and outdated floor tiling. Removed vanity, medicine cabinet, lighting, toilet, and all flooring. Installed new floor tiles, base trim, new toilet, new vanity, painting, new venting, and custom-built offset hanging mirror with LED lighting around its perimeter to create a unique effect.

Bathroom Renovation

Master bathroom total renovation

I designed and executed this clean and updated master bathroom which including improving it from a single sink to a European designed floating double sink with 4 drawers. Installed and restructured wall to accommodate a 3 mirrored door 4' wide medicine cabinet (see below image). Tiling and all-new fixtures throughout. With the help of a contractor, electrician, and plumber to get it done in a timely manner. I create a beautifully updated bathroom.

Hardwood Flooring

3/4" Solid hardwoods. Prefinished. Installed throughout the living room, dining room, stairs, hallways, and bedrooms.

This project grew exponentially since it was looking so good. It was scoped for the main floor only of the living room and dining room but grew to include the bedrooms, hallways, landing, and stairs. This project is a worthy undertaking with a lifetime of enjoyment and pride. The installation took several days, however the acclimatizing of the new flooring takes a few days to a week so you get a great installation in the end. Finished it off with painting and reinstalling all the base moulding.

Staircase renovation

29 stairs! All custom fitted. Stained. Polyurethaned.

Beautifully replaced hardwood stairs, stained and finished to match new hardwood flooring going in as well. Each tread was custom-sized, sanded, stained, multiple coats of polyurethane applied and completely finished in the garage so once dry the stairs could be installed and immediately used.

Escape Ladder installation

Second floor permanent escape ladder.

The thought of an emergency escape is scary for you and the family. Be prepared. The premise of the permanently installed ladder is that it is ready to be used in an emergency and not having to scramble to find the ladder even if you had it under the bed. Eliminate the worry and stress and get one installed properly.

Deck Gate

Building a gate to complement existing deck style

Several condo owners had wanted a new gate to eliminate the jury-rigged closure to keep in a pet or just make it look complete. I analyzed the existing deck work and designed a self-closing gate, that did not harm nor attach to the condo wall, and that perfectly complemented its surroundings. It will be stained to match after a season, since it is pressure treated wood.

Improving under deck appearance with removable railing sections

I was tasked to create something to hide the unsightly underside of these decks, which was also visible from the street. However, it was to be removable as well! I proposed simulating the railing above and executing at the exact layout of spindles. Also, to minimize weight I reduced the horizontal 2x4's to 1x4's. Each section is easily lifted up and off the brackets to gain full access. I added netting behind the spindles to further hide the items behind it from view. This pressure treated will also be stained to match the decking after a year. All clients are happy with this solution. They did not want latticework, which tends to age rather quickly and poorly, nor complement the existing deck which I was able to do for them.

Wallboard repair, replacement, and finish after water damage

Repairing extensive water damage

This work was done throughout the basement and adjacent garage. Upon removing all damaged wallboard and wet insulation the repairs began. There were several factors that needed to be understood before just doing the repairs. Where and how did the water come from to do this damage. There were two in this case: one was water from the car puddling up and being sucked up by the wallboard. The second was a leak in the foundation wall leading to flooding in the basement upon heavy rainfalls. The foundation leak was resolved with hydraulic cement and waterproof painting. The garage wallboard was replaced but lifted 3/4" off the concrete slab and the gap was filled with hydraulic cement and waterproof painted to prevent water from getting to the wallboard again. This project repair was done many years ago and continues to solve the issue that plagued the prior owner for years.

Tilework

Foyers, kitchens, bathrooms, entryways.

A few examples of my tilework. Replaced poorly done tilework and beautified the spaces.  Let's do the same for your home.

Installing TV Wall Brackets

Wall brackets get you TV off the furniture

I have installed static and movable wall brackets for TV between 55" to 70".

Once the bracket is installed securely to the studs you're ready to really enjoy the new look and feel of your big screen tv. Not to mention, it gets the tv off the furniture and at a viewing level that's best for you in your living space.

Wiring can also be done with an external channel to hide the wires or even better through the wall. I can install a wiring kit to bring electricity to the tv thus hiding all wiring for a beautiful clean look.

Custom Utility Shed

Custom built shed for a generator

This shed was designed and built by me to house a generator. The irony of a generator is that it's for emergency situations, but not designed to withstand disastrous outside conditions. This design allows the generator to work while providing proper ventilation - air in and exhaust out and having easy and full access to the unit. An electrician ran the wiring from the main power box, with a specialized new circuit board installed, to an outlet just above the shed for ease of use in an emergency.

Landscaping & Garden Spaces

Creating personal inspirational spaces

It's amazing what a little garden or some landscaping can do to enjoy your outside areas. Whether to attract species of birds or butterflies, beautiful flowers and bushes or creating some depth and tranquil spaces outside, then let's make a plan.

Fixing up a big gap

A client of mine had rotted boards along the foundation and was worried about critters getting in and it being a dangerous place as well for the children. I removed all the rotted wood. Installed new uprights and wide pressure treated rough boards horizontally to create a solid backing for the requested cedar shingles - to match the adjacent shed. This will be solid for many years to come and the shingles will naturally grey to match the shed.

Faucet replacement

Replaced an old leaking faucet. I tried tightening and adjusting the handles, but it was not making a difference. Sought out a new faucet and replace it and the drain and new flexible piping. Relatively quick and easy to do, so don't hesitate to call to get yours done too. A leaky faucet is very costly!
